Project Overview
Urban green-spaces and garden areas are difficult to come by. All too often they are destroyed by the constant traffic crushing the plants or cement sidewalks require removal of the plants entirely.
The Honeywalk is designed to be used in green-spaces to create pathways that are beneficial to both humans and their environment. The Honeywalk is an elevated sidewalk that allows the growth of plants to remain undisturbed by surface traffic (pedestrians, bicycles, skateboards, etc).
The Honeywalk pieces function as a collapsible unit that can be folded flat for storage as well as locked in a raised platform position. The hexagon design allows for fewer sharp turns and more design possibilities of walkways. Each piece will be able to easily lock and unlock to another to provide easy access for maintenance and customization of walkways.
The Honeywalk only requires a fraction of the number of plants to be disturbed and relocated compared to the surface area it covers. The Honeywalk is the future to urban environmental conservation.
